Luther College Upward Bound celebrates renewal
Education outreach program celebrates its restoration in 2008
Upward Bound is back "up and running" at Luther College after a year's hiatus in 2007 due to federal budget cuts for TRIO education support programs.
On Sunday, July 20, Luther's Upward Bound program marked the end of its 2008 Summer Program. To celebrate the renewal of its federal funding, Upward Bound invited program supporters and friends to join this summer's Upward Bound students, staff, and administrators for a Family and Friends Day in the F.W. Olin Building. The event included a student talent show and student presentations.
"Having, like the Phoenix, risen from the ashes of 2007, Upward Bound is particularly proud this year of its summer 2008 students and staff," said Phyllis Gray, program director.
