See below for list of inductees. Selection to Phi Beta Kappa honors juniors and seniors for outstanding
academic achievement. Luther is among a select group of private liberal
arts colleges that are Phi Beta Kappa institutions. Phi Beta Kappa is the oldest and most respected undergraduate honors
organization in the United States. The Society has fostered and recognized
excellence in the liberal arts and sciences since 1776. John Churchill, National Secretary (CEO) of the Phi Beta Kappa Society,
presented the "Ruth A. Davis Memorial" Phi Beta Kappa Fellows
Lecture at the induction ceremony, held April 6, in the Luther College
Center for Faith and Life. Churchill did his undergraduate work at Rhodes College, Memphis, and was a Rhodes scholar at Oxford. He completed his graduate work at Yale where he earned his Ph.D. A professor of philosophy, he taught at Hendrix College, Conway, Arkansas, and served as Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of the College from 1984-2001.
